ABOUT WARIMA
The West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA) was inaugurated in November 2006 under the auspices of the Association of Commonwealth University (ACU), United Kingdom.
It is a professional body for researchers, research managers and administrators in the west African sub-region. It operates at both institutional and international levels, as well as cross the research value chain, from research management through innovation to commercialization of research and research out put.
The Association is a member of the International Network of Rsearch Management Societies (INORMS). It also has good working relationships with the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA), UK.
WARIMA’s objectives are :
· Professional developpement and capacity bulding
· Promotion of best practice
· Increasing awareness of research and innovation issues in academic and public fora
· Advocacy of appropriate national and institutional policy in supprt of research and innovation an participation in the developpement and testing of policy.
· Advancement of science, technology and innovation, including addressing the asymmetries in access to, and diffusion of knowledge beteween ‘North an South’
· The advancement of a code of profesionalstandards through a framework of values and principales which members are expected to follow
· The enhancement of the profile of the profession
Membership
Membership il open to individuals, universities, policy makers and resarch units in both pubblic and private sectors, In fact, anyone with interest in improving the effectiveness of research in the West African sub-region. Membership rates are available both for individual and institutions. Institutional may include up to five individuals.
